Jubiläumsjahr 2023

It’s time to celebrate! The year 2023 marks the 50th anniversary of the Kunstraum München. Therefore a special program has been developed that references the history and future of the institution. For this program, the Kunstraum has invited selected artists—who have exhibited here since the 1970s—to develop projects in tandem and exchange with other artists and positions. 

In addition, a comprehensive publication on the institutional form of the “Kunstverein” with a focus on the history of the Kunstraum München will be published in German and English. Last but not least, we will offer an Anniversary Edition portfolio of limited editions by the artists exhibiting in 2023 supplemented by other artistic positions from past years.

This anniversary year is made possible by, among others, the Stiftung Kunstfonds and NEUSTART KULTUR with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media, as well as by the Department of Arts and Culture, City of Munich. The publication is supported by the Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne.

Zu seinem 50-jährigen Jubiläum lädt der Kunstraum München Künstler:innen, die seit den 1970er-Jahren im Kunstraum vertreten waren, ein, mit weiteren Künstler:innen gemeinsam oder in Bezug aufeinander ein Ausstellungsprojekt zu entwickeln.  

Außerdem erscheint in unserem Verlag eine umfassende Publikation in Deutsch und Englisch zur Institutionsform Kunstverein mit Schwerpunkt auf der Geschichte des Kunstraum München. Zum Abschluss des Jahres entsteht eine Jubiläumsedition mit Beiträgen aller 2023 beteiligten und weiteren Künstler:innen.
